Helping you save money, live simply, and invest for the long term.
No secret tips. No trading gurus. Just honest money talk built on common sense — and me sharing exactly what I do.

No Lamborghinis. No rented mansions. Just a regular person sharing what works.
I started investing long before smartphones, before trading apps, before the endless stream of "finfluencers" telling you which meme stock to buy next. I've watched markets soar, crash, and recover — more than once. And through it all, the simplest approach has always won.
This site isn't just about where I put my money. It's about the whole picture — spending less on things that don't matter, building a surplus, keeping life uncomplicated, and letting the rest compound quietly in the background.
I invest in ETFs, index funds, and selected shares using platforms like Trading 212,InvestEngine, and Vanguard. I share what I buy, what I'm researching, the mistakes I make, and the lessons I learn along the way — completely free.

Who I Am
I'm not an investment guru — or a lifestyle influencer.
I'm just someone who's learned that spending less on things that don't matter is the real secret. More surplus means more to invest. And more to invest, given enough time, means more freedom.
I've spent years building businesses and helping other people with theirs. Now I'm applying the same common-sense approach to money — spending, saving, investing, and keeping life simple. This site shows you what I do.
No fancy trading strategies.
No charts with a hundred indicators, no day-trading, no guessing. Just steady, boring investing that actually works.
No overnight promises.
Anyone promising you overnight riches is either lying or selling something. A solid portfolio is built in decades, not days.
No pretending I know the future.
I have no idea where the market is going tomorrow — and neither does anyone else. What I do know is that over 20+ years, it tends to go up.
I simply invest regularly into ETFs and quality companies, keep learning, and let time and compounding do the heavy lifting.
My Philosophy
Good old common sense.
The financial industry wants you to believe investing is complicated. It's not. Here's the simple truth that most people overlook — and it starts with your bank account.
Your bank is making a fortune off your money
Here's what nobody tells you: your money sits in the bank earning next to nothing — the rates most high-street banks pay are modest at best. Meanwhile, the bank takes your deposits, lends them out at considerably higher rates, and pockets the difference. They're making all the money — and that's no good for us.
Inflation quietly erodes what's sitting there too. Every year your cash buys less. The bank isn't looking out for you — they're looking out for their shareholders. Your savings are their product.
Make your money work for you instead
Instead of letting the bank profit off your cash, put that money into broad-market ETFs. Markets have historically grown over very long periods, but future returns are uncertain and losses can occur. That's your money actually working — compounding year after year, decade after decade.
It doesn't take a financial genius. Pick a low-cost ETF that tracks the whole market. Invest the same amount every month. Then get on with your life and let time do the heavy lifting. Twenty or thirty years of steady compounding can turn small, regular investments into something meaningful.
Buy less coffee, buy less crap
The £4 latte, the impulse Amazon buy, the subscription you forgot about — it all adds up. I'm not saying never enjoy your life. I'm saying be intentional. Cut the spending that brings no real joy, and invest the difference. A few quid a day, compounded over decades, can add up to more than you might think.
Free & honest — that's it
Everything on Buy Less Crap is free. I will receive a small commission referral fee from some platforms I mention — Trading 212, InvestEngine, and others pay a commission when you sign up through a link. That doesn't cost you anything extra. It's how I keep this site running without charging anyone a penny. Full transparency, always.
Patience beats everything
Building a solid portfolio isn't about being clever — it's about being consistent. The people who tend to do best are the ones who invest steadily for 20, 30, 40 years without panicking. Time in the market tends to beat timing the market. Historically, that's been the story.
"Spend less, save more, live simply — and make more than money sat in the bank."
That's what this is all about. The bank doesn't need your help getting rich — they're doing just fine. This site exists to help regular people cut the waste, build a surplus, invest simply, and create a calmer, less complicated financial life. I share exactly what I do with my own money. No secret tips. No trading gurus. Just common sense, patience, and the discipline to buy less crap.
